Signif X Madden Miles X The Mad Bloggers “Dynamite” Freestyle
Comments Off

“SigNif is like family to The Mad Bloggers. She’s one of those rare individuals that we know outside of the Internet. She’s super talented too. Since discovering her Flawed project a while back, we’ve tried to support what she does. Many projects later, her music and sound have developed a lot since hearing those early tracks. It’s dope when you see that growth in someone you’ve been rooting for. Recently she linked up with TMB on the tentatively titled Hathadays project (which includes a few other emcees), taking cuts from the Madden Miles produced Donny Hathaway beat tape, A Beat For You. Sig lets loose on Dynamite, which premiered earlier today on Ep 103 of Hip-Hop Breakfast. Stop sleeping on the girl. Hit play and enjoy this one.” – Q

Embracing Rejection
Comments Off

So I dropped this LP a few weeks ago and the response has been great. Many thank you’s to the people who took time out to listen, download, and even pass the music along. Not to sound cliche, but you are appreciated. It’s still an up-hill battle to even get covered on some of these outlets that say they support good indie music but all in all I’m greatful for the listeners and the people who support with no incentives what-so-ever. It’s just me right now (NO Crew, No Co-Sign, No Features*) I put in work (ask Gee Wiz**) but my passion trumps that at times..long story short I’M NOT STOPPING and you haven’t heard anything yet. Look out for Significant Wizdom ii in 2012 but until then please take time to listen to the previous works at Signif.bandcamp.com Shouts to Hip Hop is Cool Again, The Mad Bloggers, and Kevin Nottingham for presenting the project. Shouts to Marcus for lacing the graphics.

“It may be that artists who originate outside of the New York-area, but reside here now, take a bit longer to find their place on our e-pages, even when receiving co-signs from locals. After all, as the self-proclaimed journalistic representative of New York-area hip hop, we have to take care of our hometown heroes first, right?” – Read

“After much anticipation, Signif has finally released her LP Embracing Rejection, the follow up to her Spring project Significant Wizdom. With Embracing Rejection, Signif wants listeners to join her as she takes them on a journey through her trials and tribulations as a rising femcee. Her main battle being the one against the typical female rapper stereotype. Readers were already treated to four singles: “Let’s Figure It Out,” “Wish Her Well,” “Like My Style,” and “Nice To Know.”" Read More

“With every project, SigNif gets better. This is something that I’ve said before, but I figured that at some point I’d have to stop saying that. Her latest effort, an album called “Embracing Rejection,” will not be the joint that breaks my string of high praise. After her last jawn, “SigNificant Wizdom,” I was fearful that she was about to get stuck in a rut of just being a dope emcee that began limiting her subject matter because of the amount of love that she’d been getting from her current sound.” Read More

“SigNif opens with ‘Poetry In Motion’, where she ‘wants someone to pass her notebook because she hates writing in this iPhone notebook’ over a smooth jazz like production. ‘Let’s Build’, she wants to distance herself from the norm and create something different. ‘Like My Style’, SigNif killed me when I realized this track was only 1:40 long. I was like nooooooo, don’t cut it short. ‘AfterNoon Jazz Redux’ is mean.. SigNif along with smooth flow just mesh perfectly on this beat. ‘Nice To Know’ shows SigNif brushing off those that constantly throwing dirt at her.” – Read More

“We’ve featured SigNif here at TECB in the past with her song “Driftin’” off her album The Transition and “Box of Cigarettes” off of her album Significant Wizdom. Now the former Milwaukeeian has another album out, and again, she refuses to make us Broke-Ass-Willies pay for it, as it’s available for free from her Bandcamp. Production is more than on-point as I’m making my way through the album.” – Read More

“SigNif has a sound that is one of a kind and it is displayed on this album. First are her bars, just make sure you’re listening carefully. There are a so many hidden messages behind the upfront messages she’s presenting. Secondly, the production on here is ridiculous. There is an obvious sound and feel for this album and it is very moving. The beats create a dynamic that allows a story to be told in this album. Lastly, the features. This is a 16 track album with 3 features. This is clever in that, you aren’t getting bombarded with a million different voices, you know exactly who’s album this is. Dope album I must say. Check it out below.” – Read

“The project has a nice vibe to it. Signif spits messages that make you think. The music is honest, inspirational, and anyone can relate to it. This is the type of music I need to listen to when I study or feel down. It puts you in a good place mentally. Production is classic yet fresh. If you’re looking for some chill music that will inspire you, download Signif’s Embracing Rejection. Enjoy!” Read

“After Estrogen came out, many people began to hit me about whom they felt was dope. Some names were mentioned more than others. Milwaukee born, NYC resident, Signif, was one of them co-signed by many. And of course, after hearing some tracks from Significant Wizdom, I had to agree…true emceeing. I can tell you in advance that she’ll be featured on Estrogen Vol. 2″ Read
